Things I love

My cute little man, Harry.
He is a sensitive little bear and demonstrated this tonight, when I was reading bedtime stories he asked me if he could sleep in my bed where Daddy goes (Luke is away with work at the mo). I said that he needed to sleep in his own bed next to Ollie, to which he replied ‘will you be ok mummy?’ patting his little hand on my arm and giving me a big bambi type look. He is too cute; I nearly gave in to those big baby blues but have tucked them up in their own room tonight.

The return of the roast dinner.
Now the weather is getting cooler I have got out the roasting trays and been cooking up massive dinners complete with Yorkshire pudding. There is nothing better on a Sunday than sitting down to a roast dinner with all my family.

Tights
I love wearing skirts but have the palest legs you have ever seen (really, they glow in the dark!!) Now I can wear all my skirts with thick tights and my biker boots or pretty ballet pumps, I am also loving plum coloured tights this year.

This hymn sang by the talented Mindy Gledhill.
I discovered it over at the wonderful Cjane. Have a look, it really is beautiful. I watched the video with Harry and Ollie and they both sat on my lap totally still watching it, at the end Harry said to me ‘I want a baby like that, please’.

Autumn leaves and long walks wearing wellingtons.
Every day I have been trying to take the boys outside to look at the changing leaves, collect acorns and best of all to kick and jump in all the dried leaves wearing wellingtons.

Preparing for Harry's birthday and Halloween.
I love all the party preparations, what kind of cake to make, whether to have a theme, decorations, buying surprise presents.... and next month I have Harrys 3rd birthday and then Halloween to prepare for.

Rue Magazine
This really cool new on-line magazine, it was introduced to me thanks to the very funny 3 stinky boys and me.

Brothers

Todays Problem:

Harry wants to play with his train set and Ollie wants to join in
(meaning Ollie pulls the track apart, knocks the train over... cue lots of shouting and shoving).

Solution:

Glue a second set of train tracks to a wooden board, both boys happy!
(well, for a little while untill they both wanted the yellow train).

All Change

Not posted for a week as to be honest I have nothing much blog worthy to write about. I seem to be really busy doing nothing in particular, so this post is a bit of a ramble, indulge me today and normal blogging will resume later.

Even the pictures in this post are random, I just liked this one.

As I was saying really I haven’t been up to that much, for example, high lights from the last week include:

A trip to Ikea (see what I mean?) but this trip was great as both boys where well behaved, Ikea had everything we needed in stock (plus a few things we didn’t) and Luke didn’t reach melt down point (he really hates Ikea).

I did attend a wonderful afternoon tea to celebrate that a lovely friend of mine that is having twins, due any day now, I am really excited.

In an attempt to get fit and I began one of those hard core outdoor circuit classes, the kind that you have to go to no matter what the weather? Seems like a good idea now, not sure I will think that in January?

I have been trying to finish off all the little jobs that moving house creates, reframing pictures, moving furniture, choosing new cushion covers, making curtains to cover the front of the new shoe storage and now I feel like my house is my home.

We also attended the christening of one of my best friend’s babies, George. George’s special day was lovely, he was happy throughout the ceremony and even smiled when the Reverend baptised him. The party afterwards was great fun, we meet some fab people and there was a hog roast.

But apart from that we have mainly been adjusting to not having Harry at home three mornings a week. Harry has taken it all in his stride and loves his new nursery, each morning he has been asking if it is nursery today. It is Ollie and me that are finding it a bit weird. Don’t get me wrong on the mornings when we have lots of errands to run it is sooo much easier to get things done with just one child. But when we are at home it feels strange and as Ollie doesn’t have his constant source of entertainment, he looks to me to entertain him. I think Ollie does enjoy being able to play with all the toys and touch whatever he likes without the ‘thats mine’, ‘no Ollie!’, accidental pushing over and snatching but it doesn’t take long before Ollie is by my side, following me about saying ‘mama up’.

Who could resist this little face? No wonder I am not getting anything done.

I am currently doing some work on the garden and changing over the summer pots of geraniums and lobelia to cyclamen and winter pansies. Well, I was trying to do this, but this morning as fast as I was potting the plants Ollie was busy un-potting them, I will finish it off when the boys are napping. So to keep us both busy I have decided on one of the mornings Harry is at nursery to take Ollie to a music with mummy class, we start tomorrow. I am sure in a couple of weeks we will have adjusted and got used to our new weekly arrangements and I will have found someway of getting things done around here?!

My big boy

Today was Harry's first day at Pre-school.
He was very excited.
I was a little bit sad, he is growing up to fast.

Harry wanted to wear his favourite t-shirt with the yellow car on the front and he could not wait to use the new backpack he had chosen for himself last week. He was telling me to hurry up as he didn’t want to be late while I was trying to take these pictures.

I was the first mum waiting outside his nursery at pick up time. Harry was really happy to see me and Ollie but I think he was mainly happy as he wanted to tell me all what he had been up to....play-dough and playing with cars. I think he really enjoyed his first school experience.

Holiday Post No.2

The sunshine returned! and I got to spend the day in my favourite place to visit in Cornwall, St Ives. I love wandering around all the little winding streets and browsing all of the galleries, cute little shops and of course stopping for a yummy cream tea overlooking the sea. I didn’t manage to buy any paintings as I have way too expensive taste but I did buy a big, rustic looking pottery dish which I am going to use as a nature bowl to show all Harry's autumn collections. Plus Luke brought me this really cute ceramic bird made by Hannah Turner. It was a perfect day, thanks to Luke who patiently stood outside most of the galleries with pushchair and the two boys, and thanks to my two boys for both napping in the pushchair and giving us a little break.

This is St Ives, isn’t it beautiful? I have not edited this picture in anyway the sky really is that blue.

The rest of the week we have spent playing on the beach and visiting the beautiful gardens of Trebah . Which has some enormous plants, the kind you could image dinosaurs walking through and when you walk to the end of the gardens you come out into a little cove, with a pebbly beach.

We spent a couple of hours having a picnic, collecting interesting shells and skimming stones across the flat sea, I love that my Dad still holds the skimming record.

It really has been an awesome holiday and I will miss seeing these guys everyday x

Holiday post No.1

After one peaceful hour of driving and then 4 not so peaceful ones, we arrived at our holiday destination of Padstow, Cornwall.

My parents, brothers, brothers girlfriend Rachael, my family and Eddie the dog all chilling out in our new home for the week.

The weather on our first day was fantastic and we spent the whole day on the beach. The boys played at the edge of the sea, building sand castles and playing with the teapot Harry brought with him. Luke and two of my brothers braved the freezing sea and went for a swim, I watched. It was a perfect way to start off our family holiday.

what a difference a day makes, the weather has taken a turn and it has been raining, lots. But being true brits we still got out and made the most of the beautiful cornish coastline.

The plans for the rest of the week, include lots of ice-cream, a few cream teas, a trip the St Ives, lots of walks and a date night for just Luke and I. But before all that, tonight it was Luke and my night to cook for everyone so I better get on with that.

A few of my favourite things

1. It is only two sleeps until we go on holiday and we are all very excited!

2. Autumn feels like it is really beginning now and I love autumn. Harry loves blackberry picking and I have made three blackberry and apple crumbles in the last two weeks.

3. Chocolate chip cookies! Yummy! These were made from the Hummingbird bakery book; it is my favourite cookie recipe at the moment.

4. Dahlias are defiantly my current favourite flowers; these beauties came from a friend’s garden.
