Hello! from my boys at the beach last weekend
I really have been neglecting my blog of late and feel a bit bad about it. There have been a few reason why I have not updated it much:
1. I have been concentrating on my flickr site ‘the little leaf’ as since my photography course finished I have wanted to spend time practicing my new skills and learning more, I think I may have become a flickr addict?!
2. After a trip to my lovely hairdresser (who is a prolific reader) I have become hooked on the Twilight books so have been spending my spare moments reading them. I have just finished the 3rd book, Eclipse so this weekend Luke and I are going on a little date to the cinema to see it; I am really looking forward to that.
3. The last reason is that I heard on the ‘grapevine’ that a friend had made comments about my blog saying that they don’t read it as I make them feel bad? That I am some kind of Super Mummy? I think this is funny. I am no way a super mum, I just like to blog about the things that make me happy. Sure there are days when I get really cross with the boys, when Harry has been on the naughty step for the 10th time that day, when I am counting down to the boys bedtime, when I am sooo looking forward to yoga night as I get to leave Luke to finish bedtime routine, but I choose not to write about those things, well sometimes I do but only a little bit. I like to write about the good things as they are the things I like to read about on other blogs. I was a bit upset by this comment but I am not going to let it bother me as I enjoying blogging! It makes me happy.
I will update my blog a bit more this week, Harry has been really wanting to bake so I will have to think of something to make with him and I am looking for a new brownie recipe so no doubt there will be some baking related blogging going on.

Keep going with the blog. I for one find it an encouragement of how fun being a mummy can be. I'm not a 'natural' mummy-type so I love to see how you cook with the boys and generally get them doing fun things. It gives me ideas. :o)
ReplyDeleteActually your blog on putting the boys in the same room has been on my mind recently as we have another little man on the way (due end of November).
Take care, love Zoe (mummy of Ru)
Hey Supermum!
ReplyDeleteBe proud of the title I say (surely anyone who's a mother themselves will know that it's not always idyllic anyway!)
I check your blog everyday - yes, it is a cheerful take on motherhood but let's face it, there's enough cynics like me in the world already!
Am still determined that I am going to set up a rival blog parodying yours though Em. One of your first posts was about the view that awaits you when you wake in the morning (it was a pic of Ollie); if I did my own, I guess I would have to include a picture of the skatepark - complete with obscene graffiti. Not quite as aspirational.

Thank you, Zoe. Great news another little boy, how exciting, Ru will be a brilliant big brother. Even though we are moving next month (so will have enough bedrooms for everyone) I am going to keep the boys sharing. They are so used to it now and like listening to each other. Last night Harry was signing twinkle, twinkle and we could hear Ollie giggling, they did eventually get to sleep. Hope the last couple of months go well x
ReplyDeleteHey Em, your comment made me laugh, as usual.
ReplyDeleteIf you were going to start a rival blog you should post ‘the view that I wake up to’ as a photo of a nice cup of tea, a warm croissant in bed with your alarm clock in the background showing 10.30am!

I blog about mostly positive happenings in our family, as I want my children to look back on the happy, precious memories. I don't want them to read reams about how many temper tantrums they had and potentially be embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteNow and again I write about the bad stuff - as we're not all perfect - none of us are - but I find it depressing, rather than a 'release' to write about it.
I also find when I look back on my blog, along with my children, it makes us all feel really happy and therefore motivated to make a positive future. By writing positively, we live a more positive life :)
Do what makes you happy x
There is absolutely nothing wrong with optimism. I support it wholeheartedly. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd mmm....brownies. I have a yummy recipe for fudge brownies. If you want it, let me know and I'd be happy to pass it along.
hi em. if your 'friend' knew you well she would never have made such negatives comments. well done you for shaming such negativity.
ReplyDeletekeep up the blog. i read it for the first time just now and am really impressed.
